Freezer Repair in Everett, WA

Standalone freezers in Everett homes fill a real need. Costco runs to Mukilteo. Salmon from summer fishing. Deer from hunting season. Batch cooking in multi-generational South Everett households. HotWire’s certified refrigeration techs repair every freezer type and every brand.

Freezer Problems We Fix in Everett

  • Chest freezer in the garage stopped cooling. Compressor start relay failed. Or the compressor itself seized. Compressor replacement on 15+ year old chest freezers often doesn’t economically make sense. We’re honest about that. Start relay is a common quick fix on 5 to 12 year old units.
  • Upright freezer not maintaining temperature. Defrost heater or defrost thermostat failed, causing ice buildup on the evaporator coil that blocks airflow. Common on 8+ year old Whirlpool, Kenmore, GE, and Frigidaire upright freezers in Everett basements and garages.
  • Sub-Zero or premium built-in freezer column not freezing. Evaporator fan motor, condenser fan motor, or defrost system fault. Rucker Hill custom kitchen freezer columns (Sub-Zero 700-series, Thermador Freedom, Miele MasterCool) require specialty diagnostic tools we carry.
  • Frost buildup coating everything inside. Door seal compromised or door misaligned, letting warm humid Puget Sound air enter and freeze. Also caused by defrost system failure. Both standard repairs.
  • Freezer running constantly and never shutting off. Thermostat or thermistor drift telling the compressor to run continuously. Wastes energy and shortens compressor life. We diagnose and correct.
  • Loud humming or clicking from the compressor area. Start relay failing. Compressor mounts worn. Or fan blade contacting an obstruction. Diagnostic separates the causes quickly. Older chest freezers may also develop cracked plastic drain plugs. We address at the same visit.
  • Freezer in the garage struggles in cold weather. Ambient temperature drops in unheated Everett garages below the freezer’s designed operating range, causing the thermostat to shut the compressor off even though the freezer isn’t actually cold enough. Garage-rated freezer conversion kit or garage heat solves this. Common seasonal issue.
  • Freezer door won’t close all the way or springs back open. Hinge sagging from years of loaded shelves. Door gasket compressed unevenly. Or subfloor uneven under the freezer, causing the unit to tilt slightly forward. Standard adjustment or gasket replacement fixes it. Common on 6+ year old upright freezers in Everett basements with concrete slab settled unevenly over time.
  • Compressor cycling too often or making clicking sounds during startup. Start relay contacts pitted from years of cycling. Or start capacitor value drifted out of spec. Both fixable with parts on the truck. Fast, cheap repair that extends compressor life significantly when caught early.

Freezer Types We Service in Everett

Chest freezers from 5-cubic-foot to 20-cubic-foot capacity fill Everett garages and basements. Every brand: Frigidaire, Whirlpool, GE, Kenmore, Amana, Danby. Upright freezers with pull-out drawers or shelves offer more organized storage. Frigidaire Gallery, GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Kenmore. Built-in freezer columns (Sub-Zero 700 series, Thermador Freedom, Miele MasterCool, Viking Professional) integrate with premium Everett kitchens and require manufacturer-authorized service. Freezer drawers (Sub-Zero 700-series, Miele PerfectCool, Thermador T-series) integrate into kitchen or butler pantry cabinetry and get factory-trained service. Beverage-focused specialty freezers, ice cream freezers, and wine columns with sub-freezing capacity all get service through our specialty channels. Small-format standalone freezers in Everett studios and ADUs also serviced.

Start relay $155 to $225. Defrost heater $185 to $285. Defrost thermostat $155 to $225. Evaporator fan motor $225 to $375. Condenser fan motor $195 to $325. Thermostat/thermistor $185 to $275. Door gasket $195 to $325. Sealed-system repairs (leak repair with refrigerant recharge) run $525 to $1,150.
Depends on the failure. A $175 start relay: yes, always. A $525 sealed-system leak: probably not on a 20-year-old chest freezer given modern units run more efficient and cost $500 to $1,000 new. Honest economics at diagnostic.
Yes. Sub-Zero certified with manufacturer parts channel and diagnostic tool access. Core service work for us in Rucker Hill custom kitchens.
We run 7-day dispatch for critical calls. Weekend response for a freezer full of food gets a tech out same-day when we're able. After-hours pricing is fair. Not the 2x/3x premium some competitors charge.

Why Choose HotWire for Freezer Repair in Everett

Freezer repair carries genuine urgency because the contents are on the clock. A stopped freezer full of summer salmon, a hunting-season deer, a Costco run for a large South Everett family, or a specialty ingredient stash gets expensive fast. We prioritize freezer service calls in dispatch and typically arrive same-day when contacted before mid-afternoon. If we can’t repair on the first visit, we advise on temporary storage or dry ice options to preserve contents while parts arrive.

Sealed-system repairs on freezers (refrigerant leak, compressor replacement) require EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling. Every HotWire refrigeration tech carries this. Non-sealed repairs (thermostat, fan motor, defrost heater, door seal) are more common and less expensive. We quote both possibilities during diagnostic so you know what you’re facing before we start.

Every freezer repair is written flat-rate before work. 90-day workmanship warranty on all repairs. Full manufacturer parts warranty. Same-day Everett dispatch for morning bookings. Emergency response for total-failure calls with significant food loss risk.

Everett dispatch runs out of our Bothell office. We cover every Everett ZIP for freezer repair same-day when we can, and back that up with emergency response for critical failures. Snohomish County service extends to Bothell, Mukilteo, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Mill Creek, and Snohomish. Call to book.

Excellent experience with HotWire. We replaced an old AC unit and furnace with a new dual-fuel heat pump and furnace. They was extremely responsive and honest — patiently answered all my detailed questions, right-sized the system rather than overselling, and was transparent on pricing and rebates. Competitive quote, clean professional install, permits and inspection handled. Highly recommend for anyone in similar needs!

Alex was incredibly helpful when my washer wouldn’t drain. He quickly identified the root cause and I was able to schedule the repair for the day after the new part was ordered. Alex was professional, efficient, and I sincerely appreciated his attention to detail. He made sure that everything was running properly before leaving and even helped resolve some other issues in my apartment, such as finding what was causing the beeping in the laundry room and helping with a loose cabinet door.

I would highly recommend Alex for any form of repair! (And my cat was a fan too)

Dropping from 5 stars to 1 because of technician lack of professionalism and demeanor. Alex K was efficient, thorough, on time, and temporarily fixed my dishwasher. It was not draining and the arm had fallen off - he fixed the drain problem but the arm has fallen off again since. It cost $270 and I tipped him. However, immediately after he left, the garbage disposal did not work. I called the company back and they sent him back after a few days. He was not interested in hearing my concerns, asked if I would accuse him of breaking the fridge if that stopped working, and was very confrontational. He told me that it would be $200 to repair because of a problem with the electric panel supplying the dishwasher. I told Alex K that I was going to get a second opinion and that if he was right, I would acknowledge that, and if he was wrong, I would change my review and notify the company. He stormed out of my house essentially yelling at me for wasting his time.

I just had that second opinion from Eco Electric, Plumbing, and Heating. My tech, Zach, looked under the sink, found the outlet, and pushed the reset button. Voila. Garbage disposal working again. $50 consult fee and an even better tip for him.

I do not recommend Hotwire Furnace, and I definitely do not recommend Alex K.

The fan motor in my old freezer failed. An original part was no longer available, but the HotWire tech found a compatible motor and replaced it. That was about 8 months ago. The motor sounds a little different, but I haven’t had any issues with the freezer. The technician was very professional, friendly, and got the work done efficiently. Very happy with the work and the results!

I had my refrigerator serviced recently, and the experience was positive. The technician showed up right on time and was professional throughout the visit. They quickly identified the problem and gave a clear explanation of the required repair steps and costs involved.

The work was completed efficiently and to a high standard, but I did feel the price was on the higher side. Despite that, the quality and promptness of the service were impressive. I’d recommend them if you’re looking for reliable and professional repairs, though the cost might be a consideration.
