Ice Maker Repair in Everett, WA

Ice makers in Everett homes get heavy summer use during Puget Sound heat waves when the AC (if you have one) can’t keep up and every drink needs ice. When the maker fails, HotWire diagnoses and repairs every ice maker type, from built-in fridge units to standalone undercounter models.

Ice Maker Failures Common in Everett

  • Fridge ice maker producing no ice. Water inlet valve failed. Water supply line frozen (common on refrigerators in unheated Everett garages during cold snaps). Or the ice maker module itself failed. Standard repairs.
  • Hollow, small, or slow-forming ice cubes. Water inlet valve partially failing. Water pressure low. Water filter clogged. Or fill tube frozen. Common on 3+ year old fridge ice makers where the filter was never changed. Sultan Basin water is soft, which keeps filters cleaner longer than harder-water areas, but they still need changing.
  • Ice tastes bad or has visible impurities. Water filter overdue for replacement, or biofilm buildup in the ice maker mold and dispenser chute. We can clean and sanitize both.
  • Standalone undercounter ice maker not producing. Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, and KitchenAid undercounter units in Everett wet bars, butler pantries, and Rucker Hill entertaining kitchens have their own failure catalog. Water pump, condenser fan, evaporator plate scale, ice thickness sensor, and drain pump are common culprits.
  • Ice maker flooding the fridge or freezer floor. Inlet valve stuck open. Or ice level sensor failed causing overproduction. Urgent repair because water damage to interior fridge components and to the flooring below cascades quickly.
  • Sonic ‘nugget’ ice makers (GE Opal, KitchenAid nugget) failing. Increasingly common in Everett homes as gift purchases. Specialty units with unique failure modes. We’re trained on them.
  • Ice maker in garage or basement fridge stops when weather turns cold. Water supply line running through unheated space freezes and blocks water flow. Insulation of the supply line or relocation of the line fixes it. Common winter service call across Everett homes with fridges in the garage.
  • Ice maker cycles but ejects only air. Water inlet valve stuck partially closed, or the fill tube frozen mid-length blocking water delivery. Also caused by low household water pressure below the 20 psi minimum most ice makers require. Straightforward diagnostic to determine which. Common on Everett homes with older galvanized water supply lines where flow has degraded over decades.

Ice Maker Types We Service in Everett

Refrigerator built-in ice makers cover Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, Bosch, Miele, Sub-Zero, and Thermador. Each brand has distinctive ice maker modules with brand-specific parts. Standalone undercounter ice makers appear in Everett entertaining kitchens, wet bars, and outdoor bars. Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, KitchenAid, Sub-Zero, Perlick. Nugget/pellet/chewable ice makers (GE Opal, KitchenAid, Scotsman Brilliance) have grown popular. Specialty repair applies. Water dispensers integrated with ice makers get service alongside. Bottom-freezer refrigerators often place the ice maker in the freezer compartment (not the fridge compartment) and diagnostic considers this layout.

Fridge ice maker: water inlet valve $155 to $275, ice maker module $325 to $525, water filter $65 to $95 (part alone). Undercounter/standalone: water pump $325 to $525, condenser fan $275 to $425, water inlet solenoid $195 to $285, drain pump $275 to $425. Nugget ice maker: auger motor $325 to $525, water reservoir seal $195 to $285.
Yes. Factory-trained on Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, and Perlick residential undercounter ice makers. Common failures include water pump, condenser fan motor, evaporator plate cleaning, and thickness sensor drift. Standard repair work.
Usually a water filter overdue for replacement or biofilm buildup in the ice maker path. Both addressable. Replace the filter, perform a cleaning cycle if the unit supports it, or manually clean the mold and dispenser chute. Some cases point to household water supply. We can advise on filtration if appropriate.
Annually for Everett. Cleaning removes biofilm from the evaporator plate, descales the pump, sanitizes the reservoir, and extends the compressor's service life. Annual maintenance is much cheaper than the compressor replacement it prevents.

Why Choose HotWire for Ice Maker Repair in Everett

Ice maker repair varies enormously by unit type. Refrigerator-integrated ice makers are usually straightforward: replace the module, replace the inlet valve, replace the water line, done. Undercounter and standalone units are more complex machines with their own compressors, condensers, evaporator plates, ice sensors, and drainage systems. Nugget ice makers use a different mechanical process (auger extrusion instead of tray freezing) with its own failure modes. Our techs are trained on all three categories.

For undercounter and standalone ice makers, we recommend annual cleaning even in Everett where the water is soft. Biofilm buildup happens regardless of water hardness. Neglected cleaning kills undercounter compressors and costs more than the cleaning ever would. We can perform annual maintenance service alongside any repair visit.

Same-day Everett dispatch for morning ice maker calls. 90-day workmanship warranty on repairs. Full manufacturer parts warranty. Emergency response for actively leaking ice makers threatening cabinetry or flooring.

Everett dispatch runs out of our Bothell office. We cover every Everett ZIP for ice maker repair same-day when we can, and back that up with emergency response for critical failures. Snohomish County service extends to Bothell, Mukilteo, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Mill Creek, and Snohomish. Call to book.

Excellent experience with HotWire. We replaced an old AC unit and furnace with a new dual-fuel heat pump and furnace. They was extremely responsive and honest — patiently answered all my detailed questions, right-sized the system rather than overselling, and was transparent on pricing and rebates. Competitive quote, clean professional install, permits and inspection handled. Highly recommend for anyone in similar needs!

Alex was incredibly helpful when my washer wouldn’t drain. He quickly identified the root cause and I was able to schedule the repair for the day after the new part was ordered. Alex was professional, efficient, and I sincerely appreciated his attention to detail. He made sure that everything was running properly before leaving and even helped resolve some other issues in my apartment, such as finding what was causing the beeping in the laundry room and helping with a loose cabinet door.

I would highly recommend Alex for any form of repair! (And my cat was a fan too)

Dropping from 5 stars to 1 because of technician lack of professionalism and demeanor. Alex K was efficient, thorough, on time, and temporarily fixed my dishwasher. It was not draining and the arm had fallen off - he fixed the drain problem but the arm has fallen off again since. It cost $270 and I tipped him. However, immediately after he left, the garbage disposal did not work. I called the company back and they sent him back after a few days. He was not interested in hearing my concerns, asked if I would accuse him of breaking the fridge if that stopped working, and was very confrontational. He told me that it would be $200 to repair because of a problem with the electric panel supplying the dishwasher. I told Alex K that I was going to get a second opinion and that if he was right, I would acknowledge that, and if he was wrong, I would change my review and notify the company. He stormed out of my house essentially yelling at me for wasting his time.

I just had that second opinion from Eco Electric, Plumbing, and Heating. My tech, Zach, looked under the sink, found the outlet, and pushed the reset button. Voila. Garbage disposal working again. $50 consult fee and an even better tip for him.

I do not recommend Hotwire Furnace, and I definitely do not recommend Alex K.

The fan motor in my old freezer failed. An original part was no longer available, but the HotWire tech found a compatible motor and replaced it. That was about 8 months ago. The motor sounds a little different, but I haven’t had any issues with the freezer. The technician was very professional, friendly, and got the work done efficiently. Very happy with the work and the results!

I had my refrigerator serviced recently, and the experience was positive. The technician showed up right on time and was professional throughout the visit. They quickly identified the problem and gave a clear explanation of the required repair steps and costs involved.

The work was completed efficiently and to a high standard, but I did feel the price was on the higher side. Despite that, the quality and promptness of the service were impressive. I’d recommend them if you’re looking for reliable and professional repairs, though the cost might be a consideration.
