Refrigerator Repair in Sammamish, WA

A failing refrigerator in a Sammamish kitchen usually means several thousand dollars of groceries at risk — and often a built-in unit that specialty shops won’t touch. HotWire’s certified techs repair every brand common to Plateau homes, same day, with parts stocked for the models we see most.

Refrigerator Failures Common in Sammamish Homes

  • Sub-Zero or Thermador built-in not cooling on one side — dual-compressor built-in units in Sammamish custom kitchens (very common in Sahalee, Inglewood Hill, and along East Lake Sammamish Parkway) develop condenser fan or evaporator fan failures that take out one compartment while the other keeps running. Diagnostic requires manufacturer service software.
  • French-door fridge with ice buildup in the freezer — the defrost drain freezes closed, water pools and freezes on the floor of the freezer, then leaks under the drawer onto the kitchen hardwood. Common on Samsung RF, LG LFXS, and KitchenAid KRFF French-door models installed 2015–2020.
  • Ice maker producing hollow or slow ice — inlet valve partially clogged with Plateau well minerals (Pine Lake, Beaver Lake, Inglewood Hill homes on private wells especially), or the water filter is overdue and restricting flow. Second-fridge units in Sammamish garages see this often after being neglected.
  • Warm milk in the door, cold vegetables in the crisper — damper motor or air baffle failed. Cold air distribution between compartments is thrown off, and the fridge temperature reads correctly but food spoils in specific zones.
  • Wine cooler or Sub-Zero drawer not staying cold — the specialty compartments in premium built-ins have their own compressors and sensors. Trossachs and Klahanie remodels from the late-2000s that specified Sub-Zero 700-series drawers are now hitting the age where these fail.
  • Loud grinding or clicking from behind the unit — condenser fan motor failing, or ice maker gearbox stripping teeth. Both are common on 8-15 year old Sammamish refrigerators and both are fixable.

Refrigerator Styles We Service in Sammamish

Built-in refrigerators — 36-inch and 48-inch Sub-Zero, Thermador Freedom, Miele MasterCool, Viking Professional, Monogram Statement — dominate custom Sammamish kitchens and require specialty diagnostic tools and manufacturer parts channels most local companies can’t access. We service them fully. French-door refrigerators from Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, GE Cafe, Bosch 500/800 series, and Whirlpool are the workhorse installs in Trossachs, Highlands, Klahanie, and Timberline production homes; we handle every failure mode. Side-by-side units are less common now but still in service in older Pine Lake and Beaver Lake kitchens — Whirlpool, Kenmore Elite, Maytag, and Frigidaire units from the 1990s and 2000s. Top-freezer basic refrigerators — most often in garages and basements as secondary units — get service too. Column refrigerator-and-freezer pairs (True Residential, Sub-Zero column, Thermador Freedom columns) are increasingly popular in Sammamish new builds and remodels; we’re certified on all three brands.

Typical prices: evaporator fan motor $225–$395, condenser fan motor $195–$345, defrost heater $185–$285, defrost thermostat $155–$225, ice maker assembly $325–$525, water inlet valve $195–$275, control board $325–$625. Sub-Zero and other built-in repairs run higher due to parts complexity — usually $475–$1,150 for common failures. Every price is written flat-rate before work begins.
Yes — we're one of the few Sammamish-area companies fully equipped for premium built-ins. Sub-Zero certified service, Thermador Star Trained, and Miele authorized. We carry the manufacturer diagnostic tools, service software, and parts channel access needed for these units. Custom home addresses in Sahalee, Inglewood Hill, and East Lake Sammamish Parkway are core service territory.
Almost always repair. Ice maker assemblies are modular parts — $325–$525 installed on most models. Replacing a Sammamish refrigerator over an ice maker issue doesn't pencil out unless the fridge is 15+ years old and already showing other end-of-life symptoms. We give you the honest math at the diagnostic.
Yes — and we see these often. Garage refrigerators (usually top-freezer Whirlpool, Kenmore, or GE units) tend to work harder than kitchen units because garage temperatures swing widely. They fail more often as a result. Standard service applies; no travel premium for garage-only calls.

HotWire’s Sammamish refrigerator repair operation is built around the reality of the local kitchen market — most homes have refrigerators worth several thousand dollars, some worth ten thousand or more, and the wrong technician can cause far more damage than the original failure. Our lead refrigeration techs are EPA 608 certified for sealed-system work, factory-trained on Sub-Zero, Thermador, Miele, and Viking platforms, and equipped with the manufacturer service software and specialty tools required for built-in and integrated units. That expertise is what separates a proper repair from a botched attempt that requires a callback and cascading damage.

Every diagnostic starts with the failure logs (on units that keep them), controlled temperature and airflow measurement, and refrigerant system pressure checks where relevant. We give you a written flat-rate repair quote before any wrench turns. If the repair economically doesn’t make sense against replacement, we tell you that honestly and give you the numbers to decide with. If we can’t fix it, we don’t charge the diagnostic — a policy that costs us occasionally but earns the trust that keeps Sammamish families calling back.

Same-day dispatch across every Sammamish ZIP for morning bookings. Emergency response for total-failure calls with food loss concern. 90-day workmanship warranty on every repair; parts carry full manufacturer coverage. We serve every gated community and private-drive neighborhood on the Plateau.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
