Ice Maker Repair in Sammamish, WA

Sammamish families entertain year-round — kids’ sports parties, Sahalee summer cocktails, Thanksgiving hosting — and ice makers work overtime. When they fail, HotWire diagnoses and repairs every ice maker type, from built-in fridge units to standalone undercounter models.

Ice Maker Failures Common in Sammamish

  • Fridge ice maker producing no ice at all — water inlet valve failed, water supply line frozen (common on refrigerators in unheated Sammamish garages during cold snaps), or the ice maker module itself failed. Standard repairs.
  • Hollow, small, or slow-forming ice cubes — water inlet valve partially failing, water pressure low, water filter clogged, or fill tube frozen. Common on 3+ year old fridge ice makers where the filter was never changed.
  • Ice tastes bad or has visible impurities — water filter overdue for replacement, or biofilm buildup in the ice maker mold and dispenser chute. We can clean and sanitize both.
  • Standalone undercounter ice maker not producing — Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, and KitchenAid undercounter units in Sammamish wet bars, butler pantries, and outdoor kitchens have their own failure catalog. Water pump, condenser fan, evaporator plate icing, ice thickness sensor, and drain pump are the common culprits.
  • Ice maker floods the fridge or freezer floor — inlet valve stuck open, or ice level sensor failed causing overproduction. Standard diagnostic and repair, but urgent because water damage to interior fridge components and to the flooring below can cascade quickly.
  • Sonic ‘nugget’ ice makers (GE Opal, KitchenAid nugget) failing — increasingly common in Sammamish luxury kitchens and outdoor bars. Specialty units with unique failure modes; we’re trained on them.

Ice Maker Types We Service in Sammamish

Refrigerator built-in ice makers — the standard configuration in most Sammamish kitchens — cover Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, KitchenAid, Bosch, Miele, Sub-Zero, and Thermador. Each brand has distinctive ice maker modules with brand-specific parts. Standalone undercounter ice makers get heavy use in Sammamish luxury kitchens, butler pantries, wet bars, and outdoor kitchens; we service Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, KitchenAid, Sub-Zero, Perlick, and Manitowoc residential units. Nugget/pellet/chewable ice makers (GE Opal, KitchenAid, Scotsman Brilliance) have grown popular in Sammamish luxury kitchens and pool houses; specialty repair applies. Sonic-style ice, gourmet clear ice, and specialty ice for craft cocktails — all get service through our specialty channels. Water dispensers integrated with ice makers get service alongside.

Fridge ice maker repairs: water inlet valve $155–$275, ice maker module $325–$525, water filter $65–$95 (part alone). Undercounter/standalone: water pump $325–$525, condenser fan $275–$425, water inlet solenoid $195–$285, drain pump $275–$425. Nugget ice maker (GE Opal, similar): auger motor $325–$525, water reservoir seal $195–$285. All prices flat-rate written before work.
Yes — factory-trained on Scotsman, U-Line, Marvel, and Perlick residential undercounter ice makers. Common failures include water pump, condenser fan motor, evaporator plate cleaning (scale buildup), and thickness sensor drift. Standard repair work for us.
Usually a water filter overdue for replacement or biofilm buildup in the ice maker path. Both are addressable — we can replace the filter, perform a cleaning cycle if the unit supports it, or manually clean the mold and dispenser chute. Some cases point to the household water supply itself; we can advise on filtration if appropriate.
Annually for Sammamish Plateau homes, especially those on private wells or with hard municipal water. Cleaning removes scale from the evaporator plate, descales the pump, sanitizes the reservoir, and extends the compressor's service life. Annual maintenance is much cheaper than the compressor replacement it prevents.

Ice maker repair varies enormously by unit type. Refrigerator-integrated ice makers are usually straightforward — replace the module, replace the inlet valve, replace the water line, done. Undercounter and standalone units are more complex machines with their own compressors, condensers, evaporator plates, ice sensors, and drainage systems. Nugget ice makers use a different mechanical process entirely (auger extrusion instead of tray freezing) with its own failure modes. Our techs are trained on all three categories with the diagnostic tools each requires.

For undercounter and standalone ice makers, we recommend annual cleaning and descaling — especially for Sammamish Plateau homes on private wells with harder water, and for units used heavily in entertaining. Mineral scale on the evaporator plate slows ice production, coats the pump, and eventually kills the compressor if left too long. We can perform annual maintenance service alongside any repair visit at reasonable cost.

Same-day Sammamish dispatch for morning ice maker calls. 90-day workmanship warranty on repairs. Full manufacturer parts warranty. Emergency response for actively leaking ice makers threatening cabinetry or flooring.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
