Ice Maker Repair in Redmond WA

Ice maker stopped making ice in Redmond? We repair in-fridge, built-in, and standalone units. Same day, most calls.

Ice Maker Problems We Fix in Redmond

  • Ice maker not producing any ice at all — usually a failed water inlet valve, freezer temperature too warm, or ice maker module failure
  • Ice cubes coming out small, hollow, or discolored — typically low water pressure, scale buildup from Redmond’s water, or a partially failed valve
  • Water leaking from the ice maker onto the freezer floor — commonly a cracked ice mold, blocked drain line, or water inlet valve dripping when closed
  • Ice tastes or smells off — a water filter due for replacement or biofilm buildup in the water supply line
  • Ice maker producing ice but not dispensing through the door — a failed dispenser motor or auger assembly issue on French door refrigerator ice makers
  • Standalone under-counter ice maker not cycling into harvest mode — a bin sensor issue, thermostat failure, or control board fault
  • Sub-Zero or Scotsman built-in ice maker producing minimal ice — often a water flow issue or scale on the evaporator specific to built-in unit design
  • Ice maker cycling but freezing over inside the ice mold — a defrost cycle failure or ejector arm mechanical issue

Ice Maker Types We Service in Redmond

In-Refrigerator Ice Makers — the ice maker components inside French door and side-by-side fridges, the most common configuration across Redmond kitchens.

Standalone Under-Counter Ice Makers — increasingly common in Redmond’s higher-end kitchens and downtown condos, particularly for entertaining and specialty ice types like nugget or clear cubes.

Built-In Column Ice Makers — Sub-Zero, Scotsman, and U-Line integrated units in Redmond’s Bear Creek and Union Hill custom kitchens.

Multiple possible causes we check systematically: failed water inlet valve, freezer temperature too warm to freeze water quickly enough, scale buildup restricting water flow, or a failed ice maker module. We diagnose each rather than replacing components on guesswork. The first step on any ice maker call is often verifying the freezer is actually cold enough. Sometimes what presents as an ice maker failure is really a broader refrigeration issue.
Yes, both brands are regularly serviced across Redmond's premium kitchens. Our techs are trained on the specific service procedures each brand requires, and parts sourcing runs through authorized channels for genuine components. For premium standalone units, we can also discuss water filtration options during the service visit if scale buildup keeps causing recurring issues.
Usually low water flow into the ice mold. Either a partially failed water inlet valve, low water pressure at the supply line, or scale buildup restricting flow from Redmond's moderately hard water. We test each cause during diagnosis. Water pressure at the ice maker connection is easy to test with a proper gauge, and low pressure is a surprisingly common root cause we see across Redmond.
Typically every six months for standard use, but Redmond's water hardness sometimes shortens that interval. If ice starts tasting off or production drops, replace the filter first before assuming a mechanical issue. It's the cheapest first step and resolves many of the ice maker problems we get called about. Water filter replacement is one of the cheapest maintenance tasks with the biggest impact on ice maker performance and ice quality.

Ice maker repair diagnostics look simple from the outside but usually involve three distinct systems: water supply and pressure, refrigeration and temperature control, and the ice production mechanism itself. A single symptom like no ice could trace to any of the three, and we test each rather than guessing at the fault. That systematic approach is why our first-visit fix rate stays high.

Redmond’s water hardness matters more for ice makers than most homeowners realize. Scale buildup gradually reduces water flow into the ice mold, which shows up as smaller ice cubes, incomplete harvest cycles, and eventually complete production failure. During service calls we inspect for scale and can recommend water filtration if that’s the underlying cause rather than a mechanical failure.

For standalone under-counter units like Sub-Zero, Scotsman, U-Line, and Marvel, the diagnostic approach differs from in-fridge ice makers, and our techs adapt to the specific unit type. Common repair categories include water inlet valve replacement, ice maker module swaps, thermostat and sensor replacement, and defrost cycle repair. Parts sourcing runs through authorized channels for premium brands.

Every ice maker repair in Redmond includes our 90-day parts and labor warranty. Same issue returns within that window and we come back at zero cost. This covers every brand and every repair type, from a simple water inlet valve replacement to a full Sub-Zero ice maker assembly swap.

For standalone under-counter ice makers specifically, proper drain routing and water supply pressure are essential for reliable long-term operation. During service calls we inspect the installation for common issues like kinked drain lines, undersized water supply, and missing shut-off valves that shorten equipment life and cause recurring service calls. Sometimes the fix is installation correction rather than component replacement.

For Redmond homes with entertaining spaces or home bars featuring standalone ice makers, we understand that reliability matters most right when it’s least convenient to have a failure, meaning before hosting an event. Same-day service is available for these situations, and we can also discuss preventive maintenance schedules if reliable operation matters more than reactive-only service.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
