Air Conditioner Repair in Redmond WA

Redmond AC quit at the worst possible time? We fix central air, ductless, and window units the same day you call. Upfront pricing, all brands.

Air Conditioner Problems We Fix in Redmond

  • AC running constantly but the house never cools down — usually a low refrigerant charge or an undersized system for the Redmond home’s actual load
  • Warm air blowing from vents instead of cold — frequently a failed capacitor, a tripped condenser breaker, or a compressor that’s stopped running
  • Outdoor condenser unit not turning on at all — typically a bad contactor, blown fuse, or thermostat wiring fault we can trace in minutes
  • Ice forming on the refrigerant lines or indoor coil — airflow restriction or low refrigerant — a common Redmond failure after a dirty filter goes unchanged
  • Loud rattling, clicking, or grinding from the compressor — often a failing capacitor or a fan bearing about to fail — worth catching before the compressor goes
  • Water pooling near the indoor air handler — a clogged condensate drain line or cracked pan, common in older Education Hill installs
  • Thermostat unresponsive or showing the wrong temperature — usually a dead battery, a wiring issue, or a sensor that’s drifted out of calibration
  • Circuit breaker trips every time the AC cycles on — a compressor drawing too many amps, a short in the outdoor wiring, or an undersized breaker
  • Musty smell coming through the vents when the AC runs — mold on the evaporator coil or in the condensate pan, worth cleaning before it worsens
  • Refrigerant leak causing weak or inconsistent cooling — we locate and repair leaks rather than just topping off refrigerant, which is a temporary fix at best

Yes. We run techs through Overlake, Downtown Redmond, and the neighborhoods around the Microsoft campus every week. If you're working from home and need it fixed before your next call, tell our dispatcher when you book — we prioritize same-day windows for remote workers on deadline and can usually squeeze in a morning or early-afternoon slot. Our dispatch board reserves early-afternoon slots specifically for Redmond calls so we can chain visits through the Eastside efficiently.
Absolutely. Most of Redmond's newer townhomes and condos rely on ductless mini splits for cooling, and we service them daily. Our vans carry Mitsubishi, Daikin, and Fujitsu parts for the head units and outdoor condensers used most in Redmond multifamily construction, which is why most calls wrap up in a single visit. Ductless-familiar techs are dispatched rather than general HVAC generalists — the diagnostic approach on mini splits differs enough that specialization matters.
The most common cause we see in Redmond is a low refrigerant charge from a slow leak, followed closely by a failing capacitor that keeps the compressor from running at full strength. Dirty condenser coils and a clogged air filter are the next two culprits. We diagnose the exact cause on-site with pressure gauges and electrical readings before quoting a fix, so you're not paying for guesswork. Guessing at the root cause on an AC problem tends to cost more than a thorough diagnosis, since you end up paying for parts that weren't actually the issue.
Every repair includes a 90-day parts and labor warranty. If the same issue returns within that window, we come back at no charge — no diagnostic fee, no travel fee, no argument. We back this because our diagnostic process is thorough enough that repeat visits are genuinely rare. We also cover any labor to reinstall the same part if the fault turns out to be somewhere else in the system during warranty period.

Types of AC Repair We Handle in Redmond

Central Air Conditioning — the ducted systems common in Education Hill and Bear Creek homes built in the 70s and 80s, where aging capacitors and worn contactors are the usual failure point.

Ductless Mini Split AC — the wall-mounted heads increasingly common in Redmond’s newer townhomes and remodeled older homes without existing ductwork.

Window & Portable AC — quick fixes for renters in Overlake and Downtown Redmond apartments who need a working unit before the next heat wave, not a two-week wait.

Our Redmond AC techs are NATE-certified and dispatched from the Eastside every morning, which is the main reason most cooling calls in the city get a same-day window even during a heat wave. When we arrive, we run a full diagnostic before quoting anything — refrigerant pressures, capacitor microfarads, contactor pull-in — instead of guessing at the visible parts and hoping we got lucky.

You’ll get a fixed price in writing before the wrench comes out, not a running meter. If the fix ends up being simpler than the diagnostic suggested, the price still holds. Every AC repair we complete in Redmond includes a 90-day parts and labor warranty, so if the same issue resurfaces we’re back at no cost.

We also stock the Mitsubishi and Daikin parts that account for the majority of ductless failures in Redmond, along with universal capacitors, contactors, and low-voltage components for the central systems in Education Hill and Bear Creek. That parts inventory is why our first-visit fix rate in Redmond runs well above the industry average.

Redmond’s tree cover and west-facing glass mean cooling loads can vary dramatically even between similar-size homes on the same street. When we quote a repair, we factor in how the AC is being used — a home office running eight hours a day imposes very different demands than a house that only runs the AC during the evening. That context often changes our recommendation between a straight repair and a broader system tune-up.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
