Ductless Mini Split Installation in Redmond WA

Adding a mini split to your Redmond home? We install single and multi-zone systems and handle Energy Smart Eastside rebate paperwork.

Common Reasons Redmond Homeowners Install Mini Splits

  • Home addition or converted garage office with no ductwork — the most common Redmond scenario — a single ductless head serves the space cleanly
  • Older Redmond home never fitted with central air conditioning — common in Education Hill and Grass Lawn homes built before AC was standard equipment
  • Replacing inefficient electric baseboard heat room by room — a zone-by-zone conversion approach that qualifies for Energy Smart Eastside rebates
  • Wanting zone-by-zone temperature control instead of one thermostat — each ductless head runs independently, so you’re not conditioning empty rooms
  • Renovation project where adding ductwork isn’t practical — ductless installs avoid the drywall, framing, and mechanical work required for new ductwork
  • Qualifying for Energy Smart Eastside heat pump rebates — Mitsubishi ductless systems are the primary equipment approved for the Redmond ESE program

It depends on layout and how independently you want each room controlled. We walk the home and recommend a configuration — often a multi-zone system pays off over several single-zone units for whole-home Redmond installs, but not always. It depends on how spread out the rooms are and how you use them. The load calculation for ductless is different from central AC — each zone has its own load, and multi-zone systems need to be sized so no single head is chronically underused.
In many cases, yes. Redmond is covered under Energy Smart Eastside, and Mitsubishi ductless systems are commonly eligible for meaningful rebate amounts when replacing electric resistance heat. We confirm your specific eligibility as part of the quote. Rebate confirmation is done in writing before you commit — we don't want you signing an install contract based on rebate assumptions that might not hold up under program requirements.
Typically against an exterior wall close to the indoor head to minimize refrigerant line length. We factor in Redmond's tighter lot setbacks and HOA guidelines where they apply, and place it where service access is easy and neighbor sound impact is minimal. For Redmond HOA condos and townhomes, we handle the ARC submission paperwork on outdoor unit placement when required, since the approval timeline affects your install schedule.
A single-zone system is usually completed in one day. Multi-zone installs with several indoor heads can take one to two days, depending on line set routing and whether new electrical is required. We'll give you a firm timeline in the quote. Post-install commissioning includes verified performance readings that stay on file — helpful later if you need to invoke manufacturer warranty on the equipment.

Mini Split Installation Options in Redmond

Single-Zone Mini Split — one indoor head for a single room or addition, the most common Redmond install for home offices and primary bedrooms.

Multi-Zone Mini Split — up to eight indoor heads run from one outdoor unit, suited to larger Redmond homes needing whole-house coverage without ductwork.

Whole-Home Ductless Conversion — replacing electric baseboard heat throughout a Redmond home with a coordinated multi-zone system.

Mini split installation looks straightforward but the details matter — line set length, elevation change, refrigerant charge, indoor head placement for airflow, and outdoor condenser location for both service access and neighbor sound impact. Our Redmond crew walks the house first, listens to how you actually use each room, and lays out a configuration based on that, not a template.

We handle the Redmond city permit, coordinate electrical work if a new circuit is needed, and pressure-test and vacuum the refrigerant lines to manufacturer spec before charging. Skipping the vacuum step is one of the most common shortcuts we see from cheaper installers, and it’s what causes systems to fail early. We don’t cut that corner.

If your install qualifies for Energy Smart Eastside or PSE rebates — most Redmond installs do — we prepare and submit the paperwork on your behalf as part of the job. The workmanship warranty on our labor stacks with the equipment manufacturer’s warranty, so you’re covered on both sides for years after commissioning.

The line set install phase is where a lot of ductless installations quietly fail — improper pressure testing, skipping the vacuum step, or nitrogen brazing done poorly. Our Redmond crew pressure-tests every line set to 500 PSI with nitrogen, holds it for a documented period, then triple-evacuates with a micron gauge before charging. This adds an hour or two to the install and it’s the difference between a system that runs 15 years and one that leaks refrigerant in year three.

For Redmond homeowners considering ductless as an alternative to central AC specifically, one advantage worth mentioning: ductless systems avoid the significant duct losses that older Redmond ductwork typically experiences. Studies consistently show 20-40% of central system output can be lost through leaky or poorly insulated ducts, particularly in attic runs. Ductless delivers heating and cooling directly to each room without that loss, which is part of why the operating cost is often better than the SEER rating alone would suggest.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
