Commercial Ice Machine Repair in Sammamish, WA

Commercial ice machines at Sammamish restaurants, coffee shops, assisted living facilities, and HOA clubhouses run 24/7 through summer season and produce more ice than most operators realize until the machine fails. HotWire’s refrigeration techs restore production fast.

Commercial Ice Machine Problems Common in Sammamish

  • Machine runs but produces no ice — refrigerant charge low from a slow leak, water inlet valve failed, or the evaporator plate coated in mineral scale (major issue on Sammamish Plateau water). Diagnostic identifies which, and we can address all three.
  • Ice production dropping over weeks or months — most often mineral scale accumulation on the evaporator plate slowing heat transfer, or condenser coil clogging with dust and grease reducing heat rejection. Deep cleaning restores production dramatically.
  • Machine cycling on and off frequently — bin thermostat or ice level probe failed, causing the machine to falsely detect a full bin. Also caused by high-pressure switch tripping from condenser fouling.
  • Water leaking from the machine — water inlet solenoid stuck, drain line clogged, or the water reservoir gasket compromised. Standard repair, but urgent because water damage cascades quickly.
  • Ice coming out hollow or misshapen — water pressure at the machine too low, water pump failure, or scale-restricted spray nozzles. Common issue on Manitowoc Indigo and Hoshizaki KM-series after 2+ years without descaling.
  • Compressor loud or running warm — condenser airflow blocked, refrigerant charge issue, or the compressor itself approaching end-of-life. Diagnostic isolates cause and we advise on repair vs replacement economics.

Commercial Ice Machine Types We Service

Modular ice machines paired with separate bins are the standard commercial configuration — Hoshizaki KM-series, KMD-series, and F-series; Manitowoc Indigo NXT and QM series; Scotsman Prodigy Elite; Ice-O-Matic Elevation series; and Follett Symphony chewable ice specialists. Undercounter and self-contained ice machines for Sammamish coffee shops and cafes — Hoshizaki AM series, Scotsman C-series, Ice-O-Matic ICEU — combine machine and bin in a single unit. Dispensing ice machines for soda-fountain style dispensing — Follett ITS/SG, Hoshizaki DCM, Cornelius — used in Sammamish quick-service and self-serve environments. Flake and nugget ice machines (chewable ice popular in medical and assisted living settings for hydration compliance) from Follett, Scotsman Brilliance, and Hoshizaki DCM handled through specialty channels. Every ice type and every install format within our capability.

Same-day dispatch for morning calls; typically 2–4 hour response for emergency service during business hours. Ice machine failures don't usually stop service the way a fryer or dishwasher would, but restaurants running out of ice mid-service is a real problem — we treat it accordingly.
Every 6 months for Sammamish commercial equipment; quarterly for high-cycle machines or machines on Plateau well water. Cleaning removes evaporator scale, sanitizes water paths, and restores production capacity. Neglected cleaning is the single biggest cause of premature ice machine death in the region.
Common repairs: water inlet valve $195–$285, water pump $325–$475, bin thermostat $195–$275, ice level probe $195–$285, condenser fan motor $325–$475, high-pressure switch $195–$285, evaporator cleaning $325–$525, refrigerant leak repair with recharge $625–$1,250. Full deep cleaning service $325–$495.
Yes — semi-annual or quarterly cleaning contracts available for Sammamish restaurants, coffee shops, assisted living facilities, and HOAs with commercial ice machines. Includes full descaling, sanitization, inspection, and minor part replacement. Contract customers get priority emergency response.

Commercial ice machine repair combines refrigeration expertise with water-system knowledge — few technicians are equally strong at both. Our commercial refrigeration techs hold EPA 608 refrigerant certification (required for any work touching sealed system), understand ice machine hydraulics (spray nozzles, water distribution, cascading refrigerant metering), and can diagnose accurately across the diverse ice machine landscape. Common misdiagnoses on ice machines happen when a technician assumes low-refrigerant is the problem when the actual issue is water-side scale or airflow — leading to a $600 refrigerant repair that didn’t solve anything. We measure and diagnose properly.

Sammamish’s water — treated Plateau supply on the newer side, private wells on the older Pine Lake and Beaver Lake side — pushes minerals through ice machines and creates chronic scale accumulation. We recommend cleaning every 6 months for Sammamish commercial ice machines, quarterly for high-cycle equipment. Full descaling with manufacturer-approved chemistry, sanitization, and inspection typically extends machine life 3–5 years beyond neglected units. Cleaning service available alongside any repair visit.

Every ice machine repair is quoted flat-rate written before work. 90-day workmanship warranty; full manufacturer parts warranty on major components. Cleaning maintenance contracts available for Sammamish commercial kitchens looking to prevent emergency callouts. Semi-annual or quarterly cleanings on schedule.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
