Professional Ice Maker Repair in Bellevue, WA

An ice maker that stops producing ice is one of those problems that seems minor until you actually live with it. No ice for water, no ice for cocktails when guests come over, no ice packs for the kids after soccer practice. In a city like Bellevue — where summer barbecues in the backyard are a weekend tradition and entertaining is part of the lifestyle — a working ice maker is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Our technicians repair all types of ice makers across Bellevue, from the built-in unit in your refrigerator to standalone ice machines in home bars and commercial kitchens.

Why Is My Ice Maker Not Working?

Ice makers are surprisingly complex little machines. They need a steady water supply, the right temperature, and properly functioning mechanical parts to produce ice consistently. Here is what goes wrong most often in Bellevue homes:

Ice maker not making any ice — the water inlet valve may have failed, the water line could be frozen, or the ice maker module itself has stopped cycling. In Bellevue homes where the refrigerator sits against an exterior wall, winter temperatures can freeze the water supply line running through uninsulated spaces.

Ice cubes are small, hollow, or misshapen — low water pressure or a partially clogged water filter. Bellevue’s municipal water is generally clean, but filters still need replacing every six months. Skipping filter changes is the number one cause of undersized ice cubes.

Ice maker is leaking water — a cracked water inlet valve, a misaligned fill tube, or a defective ice mold thermostat that releases water at the wrong time.

Ice tastes bad or smells off — an old water filter, food odors absorbed through an open ice bin, or a water supply line that needs flushing. This is common in homes that have been vacant for a few weeks — a frequent situation in Bellevue where homeowners travel regularly.

Ice maker making clicking or humming sounds but no ice — the motor module is trying to cycle but something is jammed or the water supply is cut off.

Samsung / LG Ice Maker Repair

Samsung and LG refrigerators with built-in ice makers are the most common service calls we get in Bellevue. Samsung ice maker repair often involves the infamous freezing issue on French door models where the ice maker assembly ices over and stops producing. LG ice maker repair frequently addresses the Craft Ice feature — the round ice ball maker that jams or produces cracked spheres. Both brands require specific diagnostic procedures that our technicians handle daily across the Bellevue area, from the condos of Downtown to the family homes of Woodridge.

Built-in Ice Maker Repair

Built-in and undercounter ice makers are popular in the upscale Bellevue homes of Clyde Hill, West Bellevue, and the properties along Meydenbauer Bay. Brands like Sub-Zero, Scotsman, U-Line, and Marvel make dedicated ice machines designed for home bars, outdoor kitchens, and entertaining spaces. These units have their own compressor and water line — they are independent from the refrigerator. Built-in ice maker repair and undercounter ice maker repair require familiarity with these specialized systems, and our technicians are trained on all major brands.

Commercial Ice Machine Repair

Bellevue restaurants, coffee shops, and office buildings depend on commercial ice machines that produce hundreds of pounds of ice per day. When a Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, or Scotsman machine goes down at a restaurant on Main Street or in the Lincoln Square complex, the entire beverage service stops. We provide commercial ice machine repair with priority scheduling for Bellevue businesses. Common issues include scale buildup from water minerals, compressor failures, and harvest cycle malfunctions.

The most common causes are a frozen water line, a failed water inlet valve, or a faulty ice maker module. In Samsung refrigerators, the ice maker assembly itself can freeze over — a known issue on many French door models. We diagnose the exact cause and repair it in a single visit.
Most ice maker repairs in Bellevue cost between $125 and $300. Water inlet valve and module replacements are the most common fixes. Built-in and undercounter ice machines from premium brands may cost more due to specialized parts. We always give you a firm quote before starting.
Yes. We service all major undercounter and built-in ice maker brands including Sub-Zero, Scotsman, U-Line, and Marvel. These units are common in Bellevue home bars and outdoor kitchens. We carry parts for the most popular models and can complete most repairs in a single visit.
Bad-tasting ice is usually caused by an old water filter that needs replacing, food odors absorbed through an unsealed ice bin, or a water supply line that has not been flushed in a long time. We recommend replacing your refrigerator water filter every six months and cleaning the ice bin monthly.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
