Furnace Installation in Redmond WA

Replacing an old furnace in Redmond? We size, permit, and install new gas systems — with heat pump comparisons if you’re weighing options.

Signs Your Redmond Furnace Needs Replacing, Not Repairing

  • Furnace is 18+ years old and repairs are becoming frequent — past that age, replacement usually saves more in energy and repair costs than continuing to patch
  • Cracked heat exchanger — a safety issue, not a repairable part — requires immediate replacement to prevent carbon monoxide risk in the home
  • Repair estimate is close to half the cost of a new system — the standard tipping point for choosing replacement over another round of repair spending
  • Energy bills climbing year over year with the same usage — declining efficiency in an aging furnace — modern condensing units run 95%+ AFUE vs 80% for older models
  • Furnace was undersized or oversized for the home from the start — we correct sizing at replacement using proper load calculation, not a rule-of-thumb match
  • Planning a remodel or addition that changes heating needs — the ideal moment to reassess capacity and duct design rather than living with an undersized system
We perform a Manual J-style load calculation based on your home's square footage, insulation, window count, and layout — not a rule-of-thumb guess based on square footage alone. An oversized furnace short-cycles and wears out faster; an undersized one can't keep up on cold days. Getting it right matters. We size to the actual load, not to what was installed before — sometimes homeowners are surprised to learn their old furnace was significantly oversized for the space.
For many Redmond homeowners, yes. Our winters rarely drop low enough to challenge a cold-climate heat pump, and you gain efficient cooling for summer as a bonus. We'll compare real numbers for your specific home, including rebate impact, before you decide. Heat pump comparison during the quote isn't a sales push — we've turned people away from heat pump conversions when the math didn't actually work for their specific home and usage pattern.
A standard replacement using existing ductwork is typically completed in one day. Jobs involving new ductwork, gas line rerouting, or a change in furnace efficiency class can extend to a second day. We'll give you a specific timeline in the quote. For jobs requiring a second day, we leave the home with functional heating overnight rather than pulling the old system before the new one is ready to fire.
Yes, removal and disposal of your old unit is included in every furnace installation. You don't have to arrange a separate haul-away, and we handle any refrigerant recovery if applicable (rare on gas furnaces but occasionally relevant on combo systems). Old furnace disposal is done responsibly — refrigerant recovery where applicable, metal recycling, and hazardous component handling per King County requirements.

Furnace Installation Services in Redmond

Standard Efficiency Furnace Replacement — straightforward swaps for Redmond homes keeping their current ductwork and gas line.

High-Efficiency Furnace Upgrade — condensing furnaces that lower monthly gas bills, a common request from Redmond homeowners planning to stay long-term.

New Ductwork Design — for additions or homes where existing ducting can’t support a properly sized furnace.

Every Redmond furnace install starts with a proper load calculation, not a rule-of-thumb sizing guess. We measure the home, check insulation and window count, inspect the existing ductwork, and match the furnace tonnage to your actual heating load. Oversized furnaces short-cycle and wear out faster; undersized units run constantly and can’t keep up on cold days — we solve for neither.

Installation is done by our own licensed and bonded crew, not subcontractors. We pull the Redmond city permit, handle the gas line and electrical connections, remove and dispose of the old furnace, and schedule the required inspection. Most straightforward swaps finish in a single day; jobs involving new ductwork or a fuel-type change take longer.

We’re also happy to walk you through the heat pump comparison if you’re not sure whether to stay on gas. For a lot of Redmond homes the math tilts toward the heat pump once Energy Smart Eastside rebates are applied — for others, a straight furnace swap is still the smarter move. We’ll show you the real numbers either way.

Post-install commissioning on a Redmond furnace install includes gas pressure verification at the manifold, temperature rise measurement across the heat exchanger, and static pressure readings across the ductwork. If the ducts are undersized or restricted, we identify that at commissioning rather than after the fact — sometimes a return-air modification is needed to let a properly sized furnace actually breathe.

For Redmond homeowners weighing furnace replacement against a broader heating conversion, we’re happy to run the actual math on both paths — total installed cost, estimated annual operating cost based on current PSE gas and electric rates, rebate impact, and expected equipment lifespan. Making this a real financial comparison rather than an emotional one usually results in better long-term outcomes, whichever direction the numbers point.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
