Commercial Refrigerator Repair in Kirkland, WA

A commercial refrigerator that loses temperature puts your inventory, your health inspection score, and your revenue at risk — all at once. Restaurants along Park Lane, cafes near the Kirkland waterfront, and the growing number of food businesses around the Village at Totem Lake depend on reliable cold storage every hour of every shift. Our technicians handle commercial refrigeration repair across Kirkland and the Eastside with same-day response and 24/7 emergency dispatch for critical failures.

Common Commercial Refrigerator Problems in Kirkland

Walk-in cooler not holding temperature — the most frequent call we get from Kirkland restaurants. Usually traced to a failing evaporator fan motor, low refrigerant charge, or a compressor that short-cycles under load. Kitchens near the waterfront in Moss Bay and Houghton see this more often because humid air forces the system to run longer cycles.

Excessive ice buildup on evaporator coils — a defrost timer or heater failure. In Kirkland’s damp climate, defrost systems work harder than in Eastern Washington. When they fail, ice chokes airflow and temperatures climb within hours.

Walk-in cooler door not sealing — worn gaskets, misaligned hinges, or a door closer that lost tension. High foot traffic during dinner rushes at busy Totem Lake and downtown restaurants accelerates this wear.

Condensing unit running but not cooling — often a refrigerant leak or a clogged condenser coil. Outdoor units behind Kirkland restaurants collect pollen, grease residue, and road dust from 85th Street and Central Way traffic, reducing heat exchange efficiency.

Reach-in freezer temperature swings — a failing thermostat, a defective door switch, or a blocked airflow path from overstocked shelves.

Commercial cooler leaking water — a clogged condensate drain line. Biological growth from Kirkland’s humidity plugs these lines faster than in drier climates. We clear and treat the drain as part of every service call.

True Refrigeration Repair

True Manufacturing units are the backbone of commercial kitchens across Kirkland — from the fast-casual spots near Juanita Village to the full-service restaurants downtown. We repair all True models including the T-Series reach-ins, TWT prep tables, and TDD direct draw units. Common True issues in our area include compressor relay failures, evaporator fan motor burnout, and thermostat drift after years of heavy use. Our technicians carry True-compatible components and can source genuine parts within 24 hours for less common repairs.

Turbo Air Commercial Refrigerator Repair

Turbo Air units show up in a lot of Kirkland kitchens, especially the M3 and Super Deluxe series that smaller restaurants and cafes prefer for their footprint and price point. Frequent repair needs include condenser fan motor replacement, digital controller malfunctions, and door gasket wear. Turbo Air’s self-cleaning condenser is a selling point, but in Kirkland’s humid and pollen-heavy environment, those condensers still need manual cleaning more often than the manufacturer suggests.

Traulsen Refrigerator Repair

Traulsen commercial refrigerators and freezers are built for high-volume operations, and we service them at several Kirkland catering companies and larger restaurant kitchens along Market Street and in the Totem Lake commercial district. Common Traulsen repairs include compressor replacement, control board diagnostics, and evaporator coil cleaning. These are heavy-duty units — when they fail, the repair requires commercial-grade tooling and refrigerant handling certifications that our technicians hold.

Hoshizaki Commercial Refrigerator Repair

Hoshizaki equipment is common in Kirkland sushi restaurants, seafood counters, and any operation that demands precise temperature control. We handle Hoshizaki reach-in refrigerators, undercounter units, and prep tables. Frequent issues include compressor failures on older models, door hinge wear from high-traffic use, and condenser coil blockages. Hoshizaki’s stainless steel construction resists corrosion better than most brands — an advantage in Kirkland’s damp air — but internal components still degrade on the same schedule.

Walk-In Cooler and Freezer Repair

Walk-in cooler repair is one of our highest-volume services in Kirkland. We work on Norlake, Kolpak, Master-Bilt, and custom-built walk-in units. Beyond the standard compressor and evaporator repairs, we handle panel damage, floor drain issues, and door hardware replacement. Kirkland’s older commercial buildings — especially along Central Way and in the Norkirk light-industrial zone — sometimes have walk-ins with inadequate insulation or undersized condensing units that were installed decades ago. We can assess whether a repair makes sense or if an upgrade would pay for itself in energy savings within two years.

Emergency Commercial Refrigeration Repair

A walk-in cooler failure at 2 AM on a Saturday does not wait until Monday. Our emergency refrigeration repair line is staffed around the clock, and we dispatch to Kirkland restaurants, grocery stores, and food service operations with priority response times. We understand King County Health Department requirements — if your cold storage drops below safe holding temperatures, we document the repair timeline to support your compliance records.

Most commercial refrigerator repairs in Kirkland run $200 to $600 for single-component fixes — fan motors, thermostats, gaskets, and door hardware. Compressor replacements on walk-in coolers range from $800 to $2,500 depending on unit size and refrigerant type. We provide a written estimate after diagnosis. Emergency and after-hours calls carry a service premium but no hidden fees.
We staff our emergency line 24/7 and typically arrive within two hours for critical failures in the Kirkland area. Downtown and Totem Lake usually get the fastest response since our dispatchers route from multiple Eastside locations. We prioritize any situation where food safety is at immediate risk.
If the unit is under 10 years old and the repair is under 50% of replacement cost, repair makes sense. Commercial refrigerators in Kirkland tend to show wear earlier than national averages because of humidity-driven corrosion and heavier condenser loading. If you are seeing repeat failures on a unit past 12 years, replacement with a modern energy-efficient model often pays back within 18 to 24 months through lower utility costs.
Yes. Our preventive maintenance plans include quarterly visits covering condenser cleaning, refrigerant charge checks, gasket inspection, thermostat calibration, and drain line clearing. Kirkland's climate means condensers and drain lines need attention more often than manufacturer schedules suggest. Maintenance customers get priority scheduling and 15% off parts.

Our refrigerator stopped properly cooling. While it wasn't completely out. it just wasn't cool enough to keep things fresh. Called Hotwire on Friday. Technician came out Saturday morning. Vlad is a young fellow but very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem which was a frozen stuck fan. After removing the freezer tray, he pulled out his magic steamer gadget and defrosted the coils. He did a thorough job cleaning up and putting everything together. Happy to have things running again ahead of Superbowl Sunday.

The team here was great. I had an issue with a dishwasher, they were quick to diagnose it and informed us of reasonable alternatives. We chose to repair it, they ordered the part and installed it. Throughout, they were communicative, helpful, and nice. The price was reasonable as well. I'd go back to them for any appliance issues in the future!

My LG fridge/freezer stopped cooling. I called Rain City around 8pm, and they were able to get a technician out before Noon the next day. After inspecting the problem the tech informed me that the compressor went out, which is a somewhat common problem on LGs. He'd be able to fix it right away if I wanted. Given the labor needed to replace the compressor, I decided to just replace the refrigerator instead.
I was pleased how he explained the issue and presented me with various options. I'd definitely recommend.
